My name is Juan Ramirez and I am an Algebra teacher at Otay Ranch High School. Algebra is the first class of the three that you need to graduate (Geometry and Intermediate Algebra are the other two) and to fulfill the requirements for college entrance.

Goals:
The emphasis of the class is to get students to do the following by the end of the semester

  • Pass the class with an C- or better
  • Get more than 350 (out of 600) on the Algebra 1 CST
  • Get at least a 70% on the End of Course exam (EOC).

To accomplish the goals students will need to be able to

  • solve multistep equations and inequalities,
  • write equations in slope-intercept, point-slope and standard form,
  • graph linear equations and inequalities, and
  • solve systems of equations.
